A Japanese calligraphy workshop introduces participants to the traditional art of shodō (書道), or “the way of writing.” In the session, attendees learn how to use brush (fude), ink (sumi), and paper (washi) to create elegant characters. The workshop typically covers basic brush techniques, stroke order, posture, and the aesthetic principles behind Japanese writing. Participants often practice writing simple kanji or meaningful words, gaining both artistic and meditative experience through the mindful flow of brush and ink. Please wear comfortable clothing that you wouldn’t mind getting ink on.
