Effort and ease: the path is the goal

In our yoga practice, in particular, but in all of our endeavors at Lorenzen Studios, we seek a balance of abhyāsa and vairāgya, or effort and ease. Abhyāsa is the consistent, dedicated effort that leads to the mastery of skills, knowledge, and even one’s overall disposition. This is what we call our “practice”. Vairāgya is the ability to let go of one’s attachment to the outcome of that effort. Both paths require strength, flexibility, patience, and humility. Both are also life-changing.

Our mind-body studio engages our members in classes, events, trainings, and retreats that foster abhyāsa and vairāgya. Whether one is enrolled in a session of Spanish classes, a Reiki training, an art workshop, a restorative yoga class with sound immersion, Japanese calligraphy, a crystals class, a wellness retreat, or any of our other many and varied offerings, learning and practicing in a community of supportive people makes all the difference in the world.

At our studio, people can learn for learning’s sake and never feel like they have to perform anything for anyone. The greatest gift of this path is consistently finding a state of equanimity, where we are okay with what is happening now, in the present moment. Gently and lovingly bringing our awareness back to the present moment and what truly is real is called mindfulness, and this state of mind permeates everything we do at our studio.

This message is your reminder to stay on the path: enroll in the session, commit to the membership, reserve the classes, register for the event. You won’t regret it! See you at the studio soon and often!

Sending love & light from a grateful heart,

Charla Lorenzen
