Energetic balance

Recently in Yoga Teacher Training, while talking about subtle energy, a student said something to the effect of “It was the physical postures that brought me to yoga class originally, but it’s the subtle energy benefits that bring me back”.

It is hard to explain, but easy to feel, that a regular yoga practice in a calm space with warm, supportive people can regulate your nervous system and bring your energy level to what feels “just right”, no matter how you felt when you came in.

It is an amazing feeling to go from lethargic or overwhelmed before class to “just right” afterward, like you could do anything - but not everything - and do it very well. A key but often overlooked ingredient is the energy of the others in the space.

You might think that everyone else already has it all together, but most of us overestimate others’ happiness and success and underestimate how much they could use our support.

To quote Baylee, another of our yoga teacher trainees and new instructors as she taught our community last week, at our studio we are a collective where “compassion is our compass”. Please come in as you are and who you are, soon and often, because we are “better together”!
